ABSTRACT
All good lessons have a list of key words to remember and to define the lesson, and what follows is an attempt to distil the key words from the preceding pages:
1 Lead – The head teacher more than anybody leads the school, but leadership should be found throughout the school, and all adults working in the school should apply leadership throughout the day. Leadership requires vision (good leaders regularly write ‘position papers’ or articulate their ‘vision’ for others to constructively criticise), commitment, determination and drive. Good leaders are brave and single-minded; they take calculated risks and they have a sense of urgency. Good schools and classrooms are led by individuals not committees.
