ABSTRACT

The concept of ‘adult rage’ is more sharply defined by comparing corrupt forms of help that derive from either archaic or more recent trauma-related rage, which I have named ‘pseudo-helping’, with authentic help that stems from non-trauma-related rage. The daily social activism of some inspiring individuals and collectives who resist and challenge wide-ranging social injustices and issues are acknowledged; these include bell hooks, Michael Moore, La Ruta Pacifica, and an environmental activist group encouraged by the work of Joanna Macy. Finally, the potential role for adult rage in international relations is discussed.
