ABSTRACT
The idea or concept of the Purpose is not a new one. Ever since Stanislavski discussed the importance of the ‘objective’ in his books, the idea of a ‘want’ or a ‘desire’ or of ‘motivation’ has become increasingly significant in an actor’s process. Regardless of what name it is given or how it is defined, the Purpose has become the cornerstone of almost every modern acting technique.
