ABSTRACT
The metaphor of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole exemplifiesthe traditional, rationally biased approach to education in general, and tovisual and media literacy specifically. Conventionally, the idea suggests something that doesn’t work. Yet a simple, synthesistic shift in perception can turn the metaphor into a symbol for an integrated, whole-mind dynamic.
