Ms. Jose Garcias has set down the guantlet for Buena Vista/Disney and for you here. As you read this chapter, please try to think of some of the ways that perception, interpretation, and attitudes might differ between U.S. and Latin cultures. What might Buena Vista do another way in the Spanish versions of the show? We don’t expect you to identify all the subtleties that Disney employed-that’s why they get paid big bucks! But, at the end of the chapter, we’ll review some of the things that they did differently and you might flag some of these as you read through this chapter.1
