ABSTRACT

The third major question posed by this book is how should citizens of a country treat migrants once they have been admitted. Specifically, how do we make them part of us? Or is that even one of our goals? These questions are especially important in modern democracies, which want the people to rule, although that raises the question of who “the people” are. What does it mean to be a citizen of a country? These questions link the issue of citizenship with nationalism.
