ABSTRACT

This chapter will explore other factors that may influence the political decisionmaking process in Vietnam. Specifically, it will discuss economic factors such as current economic growth, political institutional factors like State-run mass organizations and the possibility of political change, and societal factors including the role of the people both as common citizens and as provincial and district level officials, and the role of the media. Finally, it will address the role that memory may or may not play in present day decision-making given the current generation of policy makers in Vietnam.
