ABSTRACT

The case studies of US and UK patterns of civil-military relations, their ways of war, and their operations in Iraq have until this point been considered separately in order to trace the causal processes of each case. In this chapter, the more important findings from the case studies are used to evaluate the theoretical framework as well as to assess and further expand on the hypothesis constructed from the theoretical framework. This is achieved by comparing and contrasting the observations and conclusions of the cases with reference to the theoretical framework of the book. The discussion in this chapter also provides an opportunity to examine and discuss the sometimes contradictory observations of the case studies.
