ABSTRACT

F<Radcliffe Report and White Paper were immediately and widely headlined throughout the Media, and there was a brief initial debate in Parliament. Led by Heath, the Opposition concentrated on the Privy Counsellors’ rejection of Wilson’s previous accusations against the Daily Express, on his rejection of their major conclusions, on the position of Colonel Lohan and his summons to the Civil Service investigation, and on what personal responsibility Wilson took for the faults revealed. 78 That evening both Chapman Pincher and Lohan were interviewed several times, on BBC and ITN television news, on the widely watched late night programme ‘24 Hours’, and on radio.
