ABSTRACT

Editors have certain expectations of what reporters need to include in their sports stories. Here is a checklist of information that always should be included.

This may seem obvious: of course, the score is one of the most important aspects of a game story. Maybe reporters are too concerned with coming up with creative leads. Maybe they don’t want to interrupt the flow of their story early on. Whatever the reason, in rare cases, reporters have been known to forget to include the final score.
