ABSTRACT
The fifteen laws featured in this book span an extraordinary time in American history, from the last days of the Confederation Congress in 1787 to the Nixon administration and its aftermath. They were chosen because they have had a lasting impact on American society. What else might these disparate laws have in common? With just fifteen examples, it is risky to make sweeping generalizations; nevertheless, there are some interesting common features in these landmark laws.
