ABSTRACT

My introductory assessment course, for which most of these reports were written, begins with training in standardized administration of individual intelligence tests (Wechslers and Stanford-Binet), the Bender-Gestalt, human figure drawings (DAP), and the Thematic Apperception Test. Then each graduate student completes two individualized assessments with undergraduate volunteers before going to a field placement with a partner. The assessors are encouraged to break an assessment into two sessions, so that the client’s variations in comportment become more evident. For the field assignments, each partner takes primary responsibility for writing the report for one of the two assessments that they conduct together. The clients, whether volunteers or field-referred persons, meet with the assessor a third time to read the report and write their commentaries on its last page.
