ABSTRACT

So how should you behave when in an audition situation when one or more people that you know are on the panel? Can you be as friendly as you would normally? Will it help or hinder your confidence? The answers to these questions will, of course, vary from person to person and audition to audition, but a few simple rules should always be observed. Remember no matter how well you know the people concerned, it is still an audition and a job is at stake – which is not automatically yours. Always take the lead from the panel as to the parameters of informality and how far you can push matters. Keep your bright enthusiasm and confidence when you walk through the door, remembering to smile and shake hands, but avoid hugging or kissing unless those you know do so first, and if they do either, respond positively and do not shy away. Have the confidence to judge the situation.
