ABSTRACT
This chapter develops the analytical framework of the thesis. The framework is exploratory rather than explanatory. It provides structure and content in accordance with the research questions and hypotheses set out in Chapter 1. Overall, it is a comprehensive conceptual basis for guiding and informing the discussions in subsequent empirical chapters, leading to possible new lines of theory development in the concluding chapter.
