ABSTRACT

Comprehensive planning for a safe learning environment takes leadership, commitment, direction, and planning. It may be said that establishing and maintaining a safe learning environment “is a marathon, not a sprint”; but it remains one of the most valuable efforts that schools undertake in today’s world, as it provides for the basic safety, security, and well-being of students and staff. At the same time, the relationships among and between students, staff, parents, and community stakeholders are essential as these positive relationships are the readers best form of prevention. Effective prevention and preparedness activities and good response and recovery plans and procedures are interconnected. They also serve as proactive efforts on the part of the school, and work together to mitigate any negative impact and potential future implications of crisis events that may occur.
