ABSTRACT

In the initial years of treatment, I had provided a transitional space in which Mandy could know a sense of safety (to the extent possible) in the world. I incarnated into what she needed me to be, and she became a patient who worked with deep commitment to herself, to the process, and to the belief that her life mattered to God. Mandy was a remarkable young woman. In those few years she achieved so much: marriage, a college teaching position, purchase of a home.
