ABSTRACT

Previous chapters have demonstrated the numerous and differing types and varieties of conditions that may be classed as LTCs. Diagnostic criteria have been discussed relating to some of these conditions, as well as the general principles regarding care of people with LTCs. It is not, however, within the scope of this book to provide specific management advice and guidance for every type of LTC. The aim of this chapter then is to discuss the principles of evidence-based practice, including definition and brief historical development, along with a guide to relevant websites and evidence-based clinical guidelines to ensure that the reader is aware of how and where to access condition-specific evidence-based information.
