ABSTRACT

D R THOMAS ALL INSON (1858-1918), English general practitionerand master baker, was struck off the medical register in 1892. What led to his medical defrocking were his ideas about how to be healthier. Ironically, many of his opinions on disease prevention are now official policy not only in England but throughout the Western world. Astoundingly, his ideas about the social significance of women’s underwear are also of relevance in today’s sexualising global society.
