ABSTRACT

You never know what is going to change your life. I am fairly certain the big changes develop across time for most of us. Often we become aware of them only in retrospect. Sometimes when we look back, some event marks a turning point. Such was the case when I returned to visit a small rural parish in the knobs of central Kentucky where I was a student pastor while in seminary. I had lived among these people for 3 years. Now, 5 years later, I had begun teaching at Louisville Presbyterian Seminary. I was shocked by what had happened in the interim.
