ABSTRACT

One of the most important qualities for a strategist to have is a systematic mindset. It is of equal importance for strategists to apply this mindset to management. However, if masters in business administration (MBAs) and even experienced executives were asked to describe a management system, or to be more precise, to cite the major elements of a management system, the answer would likely reveal a completely unsystematic understanding of management. The knowledge gained from an MBA and years of experience as an executive cannot be fully exploited without an ordered understanding of management systems. All information relevant to the strategist’s activity should be organized within the mental framework of the management system. Understanding the basic elements of a management system-the managerial function of motivation, basic organizational structures, and indicators of the efficiency of the decision-making process, etc.—is of immeasurable value to a strategist.
