ABSTRACT

T ransitioning from adolescence into adulthood is a major developmental task that involves becoming more independent and forging new relationships. Given the relational nature of women (Miller, 1986), it is no surprise that the self-esteem of young women can be affected by this transition. The focus of this chapter is on helping young women successfully navigate the transition from adolescence into adulthood, and includes a group-based intervention designed to enhance their self-esteem.
