ABSTRACT
Before travellers’ pictures could be seen illustrating the pages of their travel accounts, they still had to undergo another journey. The process of illustration began with basic choices concerning images: what sort of pictures should be included and how many. This chapter explores these editorial decisions, the criteria for approval and omission of travel pictures and alternative methods to complement illustrations.
