ABSTRACT

Central leadership and mainstream intelligentsia have inherited the colonial mindset with its concepts and categories of disregarding the common will and thinking mainly in terms of security and policing, wanting to settle any disagreement by force. Further, the Indian state’s elite’s self-perception as nation(state) sees everything in relation to the perceived Indo-Aryan-Dravidian heritage and consequently takes the tribals as the Others that are non-intelligent, don’t know what is good for them, and have an existence only in relation to India and possess otherwise no territoriality.1
