ABSTRACT

In order to prepare the performer physically and implement fi tness and training programmes, the coach should have a sound knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and understand how the body works. The human body is made up of different systems such as the skeletal, muscular, circulatory, respiratory, nervous, hormonal, digestive and excretory systems. Although these systems are separate, they do not function in isolation of each other; they are linked in order to facilitate effective functioning of the body at rest and during exercise.
