ABSTRACT

Given the hazards involved in exercise for those with eating disorders, and given the growing presence of eating-disordered participants in sports and fitness environments, it is of particular importance to have some understanding of the possible legal responsibilities of those involved in the fitness industry. In this chapter I discuss some of those responsibilities, and it is important that instructors should acquaint themselves with the legal regimes applicable in their own countries and seek legal advice if a claim against them seems likely.
