ABSTRACT
19.1 Part 18 of the CA 2006 is concerned with acquisition by a limited company of its own shares. The sections on financial assistance replace various provisions in Chapters 6 and 7 of Part 5 of the CA 1985, and make substantive changes to some of those provisions. Sections 658–659, 662, 666– 677, 680–683, 687, 691, 693, 695–701, 704–706, 710–713, 716–719, 721–726, 728–729, 731 and 733 of the CA 2006 restate various provisions of the CA 1985, but do not make any changes to those provisions.
