ABSTRACT

Particularly in today’s competitive media atmosphere, newspapers and their online versions are eager to publish not only stories that readers choose to read for information but also those that readers elect to read for pleasure-articles that offer readers a variety of writing styles, structures and subjects. These alternative stories, called features, are frequently found in “Lifestyle” or “Today” sections of the newspaper, as well as in special Sunday sections such as “Travel,” “Home” or “Health.” They can also appear on front and inside pages of news sections.
