ABSTRACT

High Renaissance, Mannerism, Baroque and Palladian might all be defined within the Renaissance genre of classically influenced styles. In Britain, Baroque was not adopted with the exuberance of Europe where Italy, France, Spain and Northern Europe took it up with enthusiasm. Eventually it morphed into the heavily decorated and articulated form known as Rococo. However, certain British architects did adopt it, including Wren, Hawksmoor and Vanbrugh.
