ABSTRACT
Differences in farming practices meant that specialist buildings developed over time. Some of these were regionally distinctive depending on particular local circumstances of economy, topography and available local materials. These buildings were all erected to serve particular functions and are therefore designed with functionality in mind. However, because farms vary so much in their functions, the building types reflect this and are numerous in terms of style and design. Some of the most important are listed below:
