ABSTRACT

Editing is by nature about working with others, and supervisory editing is by definition about teamwork and leadership.

For many if not most editors, nothing consumes more time, energy, and emotion than the endless challenge of dealing with people. Every move an editor makes, from hiring a trainee to rewriting a lead to assembling a web package to awarding days off, can ripple far into the newsroom and leave a trail that lingers incalculably.
