ABSTRACT

Ethical corporate leadership has become a subject of increasing interest in recent years. Such issues as serious financial scandals in several large companies and increasingly urgent debates about global warming have led to a focus on corporate leadership in general and values-based leadership in particular. It is becoming increasingly apparent that companies must be perceived as having ethical corporate values with respect to social and environmental issues if they are to create a sustainable business. Moreover, these values must be communicated to all stakeholders, and applied effectively throughout the organisation to all corporate strategies, operations, and control systems. This requires values-based corporate leadership.
