ABSTRACT
The review of religion proved extremely helpful by enabling the broadest possible evolutionary sense of organization. It shows humanity struggling to understand its origins and its destiny and to find ways to use this understanding to improve its quality of life. It forces us to think about how our mental, spiritual, and cultural capacities developed. It gives us a sense of the role religion and spirituality play in giving us a sense of purpose as well as an understanding of the power available to us in pursuing that purpose.
