ABSTRACT

THE SEXUAL ABUSE OF MALES (SAM) model of dynamics and effects evolved in a stepwise manner. A critical review of the effects around the sexual abuse of males rendered a list of findings; a subsequent review of the contextual dynamics provided another list of associated results (Spiegel, 1997a, 1997b). Next, these data were analyzed to determine the essential factors that comprise the model, along with the model's ability to discriminate between boys abused by males, boys abused by females, and boys without histories of childhood sexual abuse (Spiegel, 1996). Finally, a national structural equation modeling study was conducted to validate the proposed conceptual framework (Spiegel, 1997).
