ABSTRACT
Previously published in 1993 as The Viking Opera Guide. Following a short biographical sketch of the composer, plot summaries for the majority of Donizetti’s operas are given. Also included is information on librettists, date of composition, date and place of premiere, and recordings, although there is no indication of whether these are in compact disc or long-playing format, or currently available. Also published in 2001 as The New Penguin Opera Guide (London: Penguin Books; ISBN: 0-140-29312-4). In this edition, the entry for Donizetti is found on pp. 224-46, with Sarah Hibberd contributing.
