ABSTRACT

Mr. Jensen began by explaining the work to the students. He said, “Each group is going to get a set of tiles. With them, you will construct a rectangular design using the instructions on the chart paper. Malcolm, would you read these, please?” He displayed chart paper which had the directions for the lesson. Malcolm read, “Using all your squares, construct at least two rectangles where squares with the same color are not touching on sides. Same color tiles can touch at corners. If possible, do not use the same number of tiles for each side of the two rectangles. Draw a diagram of each of your rectangles in your notebooks. Label the rectangles with Roman numerals, I and II.”
