ABSTRACT
Mathematics and Language Th e acquisition of the ability to communicate using oral language is a natural phenomenon of the human species. We learn to speak. Th is acquisition of oral language and the way we learn to link the oral to the symbolic language expressions of reading and writing suggest to me a model for the way children learn and understand the language of mathematics.
