ABSTRACT

In this final chapter I will explore some of the directions in which postVygotskian theory and research is striving to develop and extend its range. I will argue that there is a need to extend the scope of the understanding of the ‘social’ and to develop research tools that enable us to see talk in context and context in talk (Makitalo and Säljö, 2002) and the implications of the ways in which individuals take up positions and are positioned in practices.
