ABSTRACT

In the last chapter, two different notions of the word ‘system’ were explored as potentially useful to inform practice in the information society: (1) that of a system as an ‘entity out there’ and (2) that of a construction to help us inquire about situations. These two notions have different implications to address phenomena of transformations, engagements and unintended consequences. This chapter details the development in systems-thinking in relation to the notion of a system to help us enquire about situations.
