ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces six case vignettes that describe the executive function difficulties experienced by children of varying age. It revisits each of these children and discusses case conceptualization processes from an increasingly expanded perspective on the specific executive function difficulties each child is experiencing. The report of the results of a comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation completed by the school psychologist indicated above average intellectual functioning, above average achievement scores in reading and math, and an average score in written expression. The school-based team determined that they would target a reduction in the frequency of Kevin’s angry outbursts through the implementation of a positive behavioral support plan. Although Alex’s problems resulted in excessive absences from school and failing grades his senior year, he was able to graduate and was accepted to study at a nearby university. After high school graduation, Alex’s problems began to greatly interfere with his daily functioning.
