ABSTRACT

I have yet to meet a sixth former who does not find his/her UCAS application an ordeal, or at the very least something that causes immense difficulty and takes a very long time to get right. There are a number of reasons for that, and they deserve detailed consideration:

1 Form-filling is always intimidating. 2 Only those (very rare) souls who find swanking an uncomplicated

pleasure feel comfortable about composing what is, in effect, or at least appears so, an orgy of trumpet-blowing.
