ABSTRACT

Although relatively rare, there are a range of vascular disorders of the nervous system that can affect children. This chapter will provide an overview of the more common cerebrovascular disorders that may present in childhood, namely cerebrovascular malformations, intracranial aneurysms, cerebrovascular accidents, as well as subdural haemorrhage, haematoma and effusions. In addition, the management of a child who has sustained an acute intracranial haemorrhage will be outlined.
