ABSTRACT
Both Controlled English and Global English impose some restrictions on writing style and terminology. However, Controlled English is much more restrictive than Global English.
2.2 The approach that you use depends on such factors as
• The type of documents you produce;
• The subject matter of the documents;
• Whether you intend to translate the documents or to export them in English to countries in which English is not the native language;
• Whether you intend to use human translators or machine translation or both;
• Whether your translators are familiar with the subject matter;
• Whether you are providing your translators with a list of technical and domain-specific terms, together with their equivalents in the target languages;
• The degree of communication you expect to have with your translators;
• The degree of fluency in English that your audience(s) will have (in cases where you do not intend to translate your documents).
