ABSTRACT

Grandparents’ voices make the policy implications of the research quite clear. They say that support for grandparenting groups is crucial. There are three types of groups the American Association of Retired Persons’ Grandparent Information Center suggests grandparents might wish to form:

• a discussion group to provide emotional support; • an educational group that invites teachers, lawyers, and social service workers

to talk to members; or • an advocacy group that works to find solutions to problems.
