ABSTRACT

When Iraq invaded Kuwait, a rumor began to circulate to the effect that Iraqi soldiers had gone to the Children’s Hospital in Kuwait City and had taken premature babies out of their incubators and off their ventilators. This action was seen as particularly monstrous and served as fuel for the propaganda fire that eventually led to an ebullient national mood favoring the war against Iraq. Controlling the world’s oil market was one thing, but any nation that would show such disregard for innocent babes deserved whatever evil fate President Bush could engineer for it. Such monsters deserved no pity.
