Well before the theme of the Jewish white slave trade was written about in Latin America, European Jewish authors showed their concern about it and discussed it in their novels. The theme of Jewish prostitution was treated by the Yiddish short story writer Scholem Aleichem, and more extensively by Shalom Asch.
