ABSTRACT

The demand of today’s automobiles for unleaded high-octane gasolines has stimulated the use of catalytic reforming. Catalytic reformate furnishes approximately 30 to 40% of the U.S. gasoline requirements but, with the implementation of restrictions on the aromatic contents of gasolines, this quantity can be expected to decrease as the EPA and California Air Resources Board (CARB) continue to restrict automobile emissions standards.
