ABSTRACT
This chapter will focus on ‘setting the scene’ through discussion of the historical and current development of ‘working together’ in children’s services in relation to health, children’s social care services, education and voluntary sector services.As part of this discussion, key legislative and policy developments that have been milestones in that development will be evaluated in terms of their impact on practice and future policy. Progress towards effective multi-agency working will be critically evaluated as will the impact of specific initiatives designed to promote partnership.
