ABSTRACT

The importance of ethics education in counselor training has been cited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) in the 2001 standards for training. It is required that counseling ethics be addressed in core and specialized areas curricula. In 2004 Urofsky and Sowa developed a survey study of the content and instructional methodology in ethics courses taught in CACREP-accredited counseling programs (pp. 37-47). The par ticipants of the study were 148 CACREP-accredited programs. The liaisons of the individual institutions were asked to forward the surveys to instructors teaching the primary courses addressing ethics or to whichever instructor had a primary interest in ethics education.
