ABSTRACT

Many children may experience death as a Voldemort-like part of their life: the topic which must not be named. Even in the wizarding world of Harry Potter, people are unsure about what happens to someone after they die. Although readers of Rowling’s novels receive interesting pieces of information about what may happen to someone after they die, death remains very much a mystery in the books. Children and adolescents often attend death rituals such as funerals or memorial services. Because several of the characters that the readers come to know fairly well throughout the Harry Potter books die, it may be helpful to explore what the grieving child or adolescent think a funeral or memorial service may look like for any of these characters. Sometimes the child or adolescent may be grieving for a person who was difficult for them to deal with or was very critical of them. .
