ABSTRACT
Many of the explanatory factors of the Jewish victory and success derive from their position in the international arena: the role of the Jewish Diaspora, the role of non-Jews, alliances with the democratic West and temporary alliances with unlikely allies such as the Soviet Union and for a while the British Empire.
